I have had the privilege of photographing Hannah & Brian since they were newborns. It has been a wonderful experience watching them grow and change over the years. Once again, it's that time of year . . . SUMMER! I just realized I haven't posted anything for a while. Spending too much time having fun sailing and kayaking and all the other summer activities!

Here is an image I thought was pretty at the marina we stayed out last week. Rock Hall is a nice little town to visit. The marina was beautiful and we look forward to going back this season.

Here is the completed collage I did of the precious smiling newborn Emory. She was 7 days old here and as I was getting her posed for an image, she started smiling and I stopped what I was doing because this was a moment in time that I didn't want to miss! I will be seeing her next week for her next session (4 months) to continue in her Storybook Album. This moment of her new beginning only lasted a short time but will be enjoyed for many years to come in her Storybook Album . . . a gift from the present to take into the future. . . an heirloom to be enjoyed for many years to come.

I had to share this recent image of a 7-day old little girl. I was in the process of positioning her the way I wanted and before I could get her hands the way I wanted them, I noticed she started to smile. I stopped what I was trying to do and got behind my camera and got a few images of her smiling. She is my first newborn that I got a smile out of! I wish I had her positioned the way I wanted . . . but I'll take this expression any day! : )

He enjoyed this session and it was really fun for him. We did a chef theme for his older sister several years ago. Their dad is a chef and this theme works perfectly for this family. This series will be displayed in their kitchen, along with his sister's.

Here is one of my favorites from this session . . . I just love their expressions. I photographed Buddy & Sammy along with the rest of the family yesterday and they were so funny. They wanted to be in the photos that didn't require them and then when we wanted them in one, they didn't want to share the spotlight, so to speak. It was so funny since I have been photographing them over the past year or so. . . they have gotten use to being the center of attention and have given me their undivided attention! Ana Grace Turns 9 months!

Ana Grace recently turned 9 months old . . . another chapter completed in her Storybook Album. I love photographing little girls . . . we can use hats, bows, ribbons, flowers and lace . . . anything girly. She is such the Gerber baby and I look forward to our next session when she turns one.

Recently, I was contacted by BuyActivatedCharcoal a few weeks ago. They came across my blog and loved the images they saw and wanted to use one for their baby page. This was the one they selected. . . Baby Anna Grace (3 mos. old). I contacted the mom to get permission for them to use it and she was so delighted that her precious little one was selected. Mother's Day Surprise!

I love when a father brings in their child or children for a portrait to surprise their wife. That was the case with this little one. Dad wanted to surprise his wife for Mother's Day and brought in his 2 year old son for a portrait session. This image was the wall portrait he selected for his wife . . . it was the image that captured his heart of his little one. I think it is one of the sweetest things for a father to do!

A few months ago, we held the first Tog Dog Model Search at Vivienne Photography. The winner of the contest was the most adorable Cavishon, (a cross between the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Bichon Frise). He has the most expressive eyes and was a delight to photograph. He won my heart and I surely would have kept him if his family didn't love him so much!

Finally getting to share this precious newborn baby boy. It has been a really hectic spring and I haven't posted anything for a while.

This little one was only 11 days old when this image was taken. He was tiny enough to fit in my newborn cocoon. We will be photographing him at 3 months for his Storybook Album. I can't wait to see how much he has grown.

Announcing Top Dog Portrait Design

at Vivienne Photography

Vivienne Photography is adding a new division called Top Dog Portrait Design. Over the years I’ve photographed client’s dogs here and there but never really pursued going after the “canine” clientele. Now, I feel the timing is right and that this will be a nice addition to the studio.

To launch Top Dog Portrait Design, I am offering to past & present Vivienne Photography clients, a complimentary studio mini dog portrait session. If you don’t have a dog, you may transfer your offer to a friend or family member. Sessions will be approximately 30 minutes and geared toward the dog only, at this time. I am looking for a variety of breeds and sizes. Dogs must be groomed prior to session and must be up-to-date with vaccines along with current flea treatment . Dogs should know basic commands such as sit and lie down.

Annapolis Newborn Twins Photographer

What is more precious than a sleeping newborn baby? Two newborn sleeping babies! Well, at least when one of them finally decides to fall asleep. lol I just had to post this image . . . it was probably, in my photography career, the longest time to capture one, single image. One of the twins slept like a log, the other refused until she finally tired herself out. Finally . . . once situated, just as my finger was getting ready to push the shutter, an older sibling, also in the studio, lets out a laugh and wakes the fussy baby. . . it took another 45 minutes to get her calmed down and back asleep. What a sense of accomplishment once I had this moment captured and preserved for years to come.

Another Gorgeous Sunset on the Magothy River

Tonight's sunset was absolutely beautiful. We were out sailing this afternoon and then just sailed around in the Magothy waiting for the sunset. I had a feeling it was going to be a beauty because I was watching the horizon line northwest of the sunset take on an amber color. My instincts were right. . . and the best part was after the sun went down; it continued to intensify with brilliant color for another 15 minutes or so.

Here is a sweet image that happened during his sister's portrait session. As she was changing into another outfit, he walked into the camera room and sat down on the floor for me to take his photo. It was the cutest thing ever . . . he had the most precious expression at that moment. It's funny how it happened because I had photographed his 2-year old session a couple of weeks prior and it was a little bit harder trying to get him to stay in front of the camera. I had the privilege of working with the dad of this precious one-year-old little girl recently. He wanted to surprise the mother with portraits for her birthday, which was yesterday. He even participated in the promotion and purchased the size 12-month dress I have listed in a post below on August 6, 2009. Here is one with the dress that I suggested. He even got the cake and balloons for the session!

In all my years of photographing children, he has been the first dad to go through all what he did to surprise someone! I thought it was the sweetest thing and I really admire him for that!

Here's a fun image from this adorable little boy's 2-year old session.

We had to reschedule to photograph him another day because he was not feeling well at all for his session. It was so cute when he came back the next week . . . he went directly to the tub we originally started with and picked up where we left off. How smart was that for a 2 year old!

This session was a referral from another client who also has two boys. It seems to always be a challenge when putting two or more siblings together but more of a challenge when they are boys! I must admit, I did work really hard for this session. I am so pleased with the results we got and the parents were also very happy with their selection of images. This image was the wall portrait that they selected.

What a surprise when this 4-month old baby boy fell asleep during his recent portrait session. I wasn’t expecting it but am so glad he dozed off for a few minutes, allowing me to capture this precious moment.

There is just something so beautiful and peaceful about a sleeping baby. This image reminds me of the classic images of Bessie Pease Gutmann that she created many years ago.

Future Naval Academy Midshipman!

Here is a cute image from his 3-year old session. I have been photographing him since he was an infant. It's been a pleasure creating a portrait history of him and his three siblings over the years.

It all started out when I photographed his parent's engagement session at the Naval Academy and also their wedding; which also took place at the Academy. (His dad is a USNA graduate) Four children later, I am still photographing the family, creating a portrait history for each of the children . . . a visual treasure that the family will cherish throughout the years!

To end the perfect day yesterday, we took a early evening sail out to the Chesapeake Bay and then down the Magothy River. We enjoy sailing down the Magothy as the sun sets. As we sailed past the Wednesday evening sailboat race, I was able to capture this image. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day!

Blue Angels Honor the Naval Academy Graduates

Today was the perfect day for the Blue Angels performance in Annapolis. Clear skies and perfect temperatures. . . it was simply a gorgeous day!

I didn't expect to capture any award winning photos with my little point & shoot camera but here is one that I liked. I am always in such awe by the performance of the Navy's finest pilots . . . their precision, their perfection and the unity that they showcase . . . thank you Blue Angels for a fabulous show and a job well done!

Longwood Gardens

I went to Longwood Gardens yesterday with my sister. It turned out to be a beautiful day once the rain cleared out in the morning. It was a last minute decision to go and I'm glad we did because the weather forecast for the next week is calling for more rain. It was the perfect day to spend at such a beautiful place.

Precious Newborn Baby Boy!

This little guy is 11 days old here. It took awhile for him to stay asleep but once he did, he was out like a light and we were able to get wonderful newborn images of him.

A reminder to new moms . . . to plan for your newborn baby session, please schedule a few days out from your due date . . . we need the baby as soon as possible to get the squishy, bendable images that parents are going crazy over!

Annapolis Children's Photographer wins "Best of 2008" With Image of Madeline

Recently, this image of Madeline came in 1st place in a photography contest held with other professional photographers. This is the second time having won a contest with an image of Madeline. The family won $500 several years ago in the 1st Miller's Baby & Child contest and I won bragging rights! Two years later, I won 3rd place with another child's image and the family also won $500.

Once again, we will be participating in the the Miller's 7th Baby & Child contest. Could your child's portrait be a winning portrait this year?

Before His First Haircut

This is a sweet image of James before his first big boy haircut. He is so cute and I love capturing his childhood. We are ready to do his next session soon . . . he now has a big boy haircut which is also adorable. He was in the studio the other week when I was photographing his older sister. He sang the ABC song to me with such child like intensity . . . he melted my heart with with his precious innocence. I will never forget how precious a moment that was.
