After the storm . . .

We ended up staying overnight behind Dobbins Island.  Around noon, we decided to go for a sail and within a half hour the sky was changing, a heavy line of storms was heading our way . . . so we decided to go back to the dock and wait it out. So after the storm we went back out . . . the air cooled off but the winds died down.  Since there wasn't enough wind to sail, we decided to anchored by Gibson Island and grilled dinner.  Here is tonight's sunset. . . it was such a peaceful and pleasant evening.

Empty Nester!

This morning my son tells me that the birds are gone!  I guess it was time for them to spread their wings and move on!  It was a fun experience finding the eggs and watching them grow!

Speaking of an empty nest, our son will be going back to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in a few weeks . . . it has been wonderful having him home this summer and I can't believe I have to go through the departure again!  I'm getting emotional just thinking about it even though I am excited for him as he loves it there. He has met wonderful friends and is involved with a great church called Life Community Church in which he will be joining them again as part of the worship team.  Not to mention that he is a few miles from the ocean . . . he goes surfing in the morning before his classes. . .  and every minute that he can!  I love to hear about his adventures every day . . .

So moms and dads, enjoy every minute you have with your children . . . the time just slips away so quickly!

Here's Phil while sailing Sundance. He takes after his dad . . . he loves sailing, surfing, wake boarding, snow boarding . . . just to name a few.  We have been truly blessed by him!

What a difference a day makes . . .

Look at them now!  I can not believe how fast they are changing! Aren't they cute!

One week later . . .

Well, they are growing!  I don't think the third egg hatched as of three days ago. Not sure if it is underneath these two.  I was going to post an image of them the day after they hatched but it was not very pretty . . . now that they are getting their feathers and looking like birds, I thought I would share this one.  It has been interesting watching this from the beginning! They are probably 2 1/2 inches in length . . .

Classic Beauty

This is Madaline . . . I've been photographing her since she was two years old.  She is one of my favorite clients to photograph and I just love capturing her beauty.  She has the best hair ever and I hope she never cuts it. Madaline is very athletic and soccer is her favorite sport.  I recently photographed her sister, Caroline, and will post one of her images once they come in to order. . . she is a real cutie too and I can't wait to see what her mom selects from her session.

July 10, 2008 ~ Anchored at Gibson Island

We went out for a sail and it was a great day!  There were no threats of any storms . . . we had one come through last night which kept us from going out for the sailboat races.  After our sail across the bay, we anchored at Gibson Island and chilled . . . it was a very peaceful evening.

Speckled Eggs . . .

Nestled in between the branches of a spruce that I have in a planter by my front door, is this tiny little nest with three little baby blue eggs.  They look just like the candy speckled eggs you get in the spring . . . and they are about the same size, maybe an inch or so! My son spotted them yesterday after seeing a tiny bird flying out of the spruce when he opened the door. How precious!

July 1, 2008 ~ Annapolis Harbor

We sailed to the Annapolis harbor on Tuesday, July 1 early in the morning. By the time we got to Annapolis, it turned into one of the most gorgeous and beautiful days. I was in awe the whole day long.   The sky was so blue and there was an abundance of white fluffy clouds. . . and an added bonus was that the humidity was low! What a spectacular day!
